Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my last post!

Between Christmas and New Year's Eve, our offices have moved from a beautiful building in the 9th to high tech facilities in Boulogne.
It's most certainly a step forward for the company. It does nonetheless impact on my life. The commute is significantly longer and my photo lab is much further away now.
I will not stop taking photos, but might not be able to post as regularly as I used to.
Please bear with me while I adapt to this new life.

After dropping Solal at the station today, I was sad. Most my friend are happy to have a few days off without kid(s). I don't know that feeling. I always miss him terribly.

Well... to make a long story short, I was vulnerable. I went into a shop, let a guy put make up on me and convinced me that purple was my color and that I should put green on my circles to make them disappear. He told me that the red on my lips was good but that I should try a wonderful and brighter one called moulin rouge.
I went out of the place with far too much make up on me and having bought everything!
And you know what? I did not even feel bad... It made me think about something else (yes I know 5 days are nothing... well at 2:30 pm, it seemed almost unbearable to me)

I went back home, fixed a quick cake (à la fleur d'oranger) and waited for my friend who needed some new shots for a portfolio. After taking advantage of the 10 last minutes of good light, we had tea and chit chat.
Again my mind was somewhere else...

Still, I can't wait to see him on Friday!

I can't get tired of the view I have from my living room window.

I have finished two rolls yesterday: yay! More to come really soon :)

We have found a few more additional surprise presents yesterday. I packed everything: phew! I think we might have to bring two big suitcases just for the weekend!
Can't wait to spend Christmas with my family, I have not seen them since August.

It has been a crazy week. Work has been on my mind 24/7 and I know that next week won't be better. So I am really happy and looking forward to the weekend break!!

Solal is leaving for Marseille on Sunday afternoon and we will join him on the night of the 23rd to celebrate Christmas with my family.

During its first year, my blog was read only by my friends.

Trine was the first person, that I did not know personally who started following and leaving comments.
At the time, she was spending holidays in Denmark and I was in Israel, where she lives with her husband and her three little boys.

I have always been moved by the honesty of her photos. She talks so genuinely about her life: her difficulties and her joys.

She came 4 days in Paris and stayed at l'Amour. My office is right across the street. So, on her very birthday, we had drinks together.
And she is everything I expected her to be: sweet, deep and sincere.

Today, some people were off sick at work, emails wouldn't work, and school called me at 11:00 am to ask me to come and fetch Solal who did not feel well.
I had to deal with work emergencies from home, to go to the doctor.
I stayed strangely calm. I used to panic a lot, to stress out as soon as something went wrong. I think I don't anymore. Not just because of today, but in general. I am getting older. I might have learned a few things on my way.

I was a bit disappointed by New York cheese cakes. It's my favorite desserts and I could not wait to taste the NY ones. But most of them had no crust....

I tried to make one when I came back home but I don't think I have a good recipe.

Let it snow

We had all the weathers and all the seasons in NY.
The day of the snow storm, we stayed 5 hours in the MET.

Going there and leaving was quite an adventure!
Of course, my umbrella broke.
Of course, I never noticed before that day the little holes in Solal's shoes (this made me feel real bad!).
Of course, I thought we were going to break a leg on the slippy sidewalks without any insurance in NY (silly me, again!)
Of course, not a single cab was available.

Nevertheless, I managed to get my camera out of the bag. Which might not have been the best idea. Because it is so old and analog I thought that a little snow would not hurt. But I had a few involuntary double exposures after that: not a good sign!

On the next day, the snow on Central Park was beautiful!

We were staying in Lower Manhattan, we went back regularly on the shores of the Hudson River.
Wherever I am, if I see water, I feel at home and in peace. Remember me why I live in Paris already....

Shallow chat: we left with an empty suitcase and had to buy an additional one to come back. I don't usually have the time to do much shopping in Paris, I made up for it in New York. Plus the change rate made everything so cheap (I know: good excuse!). We came back with so many things that one of my mission this weekend is to re-organize all the closets.

Even though we would have loved to keep her with us, we mostly feel lucky that she has been during 4 years a part of our daily life. She is forever our Mary Poppins and a member of our family.
Her name is Luana, but I know her heart melts when Solal calls her « Lu »

Thank you for all your messages! The concert was magic. She is bewitching and her voice is so pure...

We were not allowed to photos, I took a few "en douce" as a personal souvenir. But I just wanted to be in the moment anyway, enjoying the rare grace rather than being behind my camera.

I am listening to her new album right now, and will probably all day, all week.

Yesterday we went for a walk on le Pont Neuf and went through le marché des fleurs. I came back home with two new succulents.
I promise that Paris photos will come back eventually. But I have so many more to show you from the Alps.

Les Fonds has been one of my favorite place. We went back there a few times. These are the Minolta shots, I took some with the Zenit too.

I came down with a cold. Paris pollution does not agree with me. I should go back to les Fonds.
When I have a cold, the only things I want to eat are soup and cake. Though I heard that sweet things worsen the cold.

Most of the postcards you can find in the Alps are photos of Bernard Grange. I made my own postcards this year because I was really tired to see the same ones year after year.
But I have to concede that some of his black and white shots are really good.
Most of my black and white images are dull, drab. They don't have enough contrast. I am still wondering what went wrong: was there too much light? Do only specific subjects work on black and white? Any clue?

We had lunch in a few simple but yet very good restaurants. The food was basic but the ingredients from the garden or the closest farm delicious. The surroundings of this one were breathtaking. I would love to go back there tomorrow!

After a 4 hours hiking, we stopped in the cutest hamlet, Pamplinet, and had the best sorbet ever: peach (pêche de vigne) and lemon. A little (tall) boy of mine is still talking this peach flavor!
I can't even begin to tell you how good it was!! It made me want to try to make my own at home.

What are your plans for the weekend?
Today, we are going to see the last Harry Potter. Solal was so afraid to miss it;) And then we will have lunch and walk in le Marais.

My Parisian working girl body very much needed some pure air and exercise.
We started slow with some long walks along the torrents passing through beautiful villages, and the we intensified rhythm and difficulties.
My parents met on the Mont Blanc, my father was a climber, my mother a skier. One of the mysteries of genetics:I have never been much into sports! But, in my late thirties, I am starting to crave for some physical activity.
And let's be honest, taking photos makes hiking much more fun!

I got all the films back today.
I was expecting so much of these photos that at first, I have been a bit disappointed, thinking that I might be better at capturing details than landscapes.
But watching them over and over again, I am starting to like some of them.
Either way, it was certainly a good exercise to step outside of my comfort zone.
So I guess you might see a lot of mountains, fields and torrents during the next weeks.

Hi guys, we are back!!!

As always (ALWAYS!!!), the trip to come back has been much longer than planned (an accident on the train, blablabla...). But we arrived safely at home!

The boys were so happy yesterday night to be in their den. And me... Well, I keep thinking about the mountains of things I have to do.

I have been up since 5:00 AM but don't dare to move around the house just yet because every body is asleep. Meanwhile, I approved some photos for being, posted some diptychs on colors of the week, and went through some blogs. I have been almost completely disconnected for the last week, and not much online during the previous 2 weeks: it seems that I will never be able to catch up... Well I guess I might eventually, and it's ok if I don't.

On Monday morning I will drop by a dozen of rolls to the lab. I have been using Ektar 100 for the Minolta, Fuji Superia 400 for the Zenit and Ilford HP5 400 for the Pentax.
Can't wait to see how they turned out!

I hear some move in the next room: time to cuddle!

Remember this post of Marion? It was so funny! As soon as I saw it, I sent her the same photo I took a few weeks before. We took the exact same photo without being with each other. The only difference is that we did not use the same film (or the same camera).

It feels a bit funny to post Paris photos when I am among the mountains. We are so lucky: the weather is glorious and I am taking a lot, a lot of film photos which I will get developed when we will be back.

The only upsets are that I took only 6 rolls of Ektar 100 and I only want to shoot with this film.... And also the battery of my Pentax K1000 is dead, I did not find a new one yet in the little villages we passed through.

Oh by the way, I brought 4 cameras with me: Minolta SRT303, Zenit E, Pentax K1000 and Canon EOS 40D (for colors of the week)

Work has been crazy these past few days.
On Saturday, we will leave Paris for a three weeks holidays in the Alps.
On Saturday, we will see him. After 5 weeks of separation, I miss him so much that it hurts physically.
I won't be here much but might post a few images.
Colors of the week will be updated on regular basis though.
